Description

Living with substance use disorder can compromise prevention interventions, diagnosis of HIV, engagement and retention in care, and viral suppression. Clinical coordinators serve an essential, unduplicated role in the provision of medication-assisted therapy (MAT) in HIV primary care. This presentation will share lessons learned to support the replication of MAT programs, including the clinical coordinator role, within your setting.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the unique role a clinical coordinator plays in a MAT program in the HIV primary care setting.
  2. Identify ways that clinical coordinators identify appropriate patients for treatment and provide patient-centered support throughout initiation, maintenance and stabilization of MAT.
  3. Discuss strategies to incorporate a MAT intervention, including the role of the clinical coordinator, into HIV primary care settings.
