Sexual activity among American high school students has continued its years-long decline, according to the 2017 National Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) and self-reported data by U.S. trends. Highlights of 2017 findings:

  • 39.5% reported ever having had sex, a decline from 47.8% in 2007
  • Just 9.7% said that dad four or more sexual partners, down from 14.9% in 2007
  • 53.8% used a condom during last sexual encounter, a drop from 61.5% in 2007
  • However, 15-24 year-olds account for about half of STD infections in the U.S.
