Guide for HIV/AIDS Clinical CareHRSA has released the latest version of the Guide for HIV/AIDS Clinical Care, a comprehensive manual of best practices in the clinical management of HIV/AIDS disease.  At well over 600 pages, 10 sections and nearly 100 chapters covering co-morbidities, testing and assessment, oral health, and much more.  While massive in volume and content, the Guide has been specially formatted to provide fast access to facts for busy HIV clinicians and is additionally designed to be workable for non-HIV specialists as these primary care providers take on an ever-larger role in HIV care.

The Guide provides crucial connections to other elements of state-of-the-art HIV/AIDS care developed over the years as its chapters are linked to both HRSA's HIV/AIDS Bureau Performance Measures and HHS treatment guidelines.  Dr. Laura Cheever, Associate Administrator for HRSA's HIV/AIDS Bureau, writes in the introduction:

"By presenting best practices in the clinical management of HIV/AIDS disease, the Guide can help us continue the remarkable advances in HIV/AIDS care that have made the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program a model for health care delivery for our Nation and for the world."

The Guide was first published in 1993 as a collaborative effort of several AIDS Education and Training Centers (AETCs), the clinician training arm of the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program. Subsequent updates, in 2006, 2011 and in 2014, have been undertaken by a broader group of AETC and other Ryan White clinical experts to reflect advances in HIV/AIDS care. The 2014 edition is the third revision, and was updated in 2006 and again in 2011.
