It's an oldie, from 2014, but a goodie. The National Quality Center recommends 7 Rules for Engaging Clinicians in Quality, a 6 1/2 minute video from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI). NQC says the video "is an ideal training tool for a staff meeting or a brown-bag' meeting." Need to know those 7 rules right now? Here they are.

  1. Emphasis (Quality) Improvement, Not (Quality) Assurance
  2. Avoid Mystical Language
  3. Relate Improvement Work to What Matters to Clinicians
  4. Accommodate Clinician's Workload and Schedule
  5. Be Upfront About Fiscal Agenda
  6. Provide Relevant Data
  7. Highlight Academic Case for Quality Improvement
