For the HIV community, current trends suggest that mobile social media apps and social networks are improving health care, in a summary of data findings presented in a recent HIV.Gov Blog. According to a TechCrunch article about the recently released Meeker 2017 Internet Trends report, wearable devices, new health apps, and electronic health record adoption will improve health care outreach and accuracy. HIV.Gov summarized the following four trends identified in the Meeker report:
  • While mobile penetration is slowing down, mobile usage continues to rise.
  • Targeting and personalization of content are increasing.
  • Digital users are becoming savvier.
  • Information from “someone like me” is still a powerful concept.
