Funding is available from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) for Mental Health Awareness Training (MHAT) Grants that will enable grant recipients to:

  • Increase awareness of mental health issues, especially serious mental illnesses and serious emotional disturbances.
  • Train school personnel, emergency services personnel, veterans, law enforcement, fire department personnel and others to identify people with mental disorders and respond to crisis situations.
  • Connect individuals and their families who need specialized help to school and community services that provide treatment and recovery supports.
  • Educate individuals about resources in the community available to those experiencing mental health or substance use challenges.

Webinars to discuss MHAT grants and an additional funding opportunity called Project AWARE (primarily, for state education agencies) will be held April 25 and May 10 (3-4:30p PT for both). Join one of the webinars or Call in at 800-593-0773 Participant code: 6355346.
