Strategies for Successful Aging among Older Adults with HIV

Thanks to the advent of highly active antiretroviral therapy two decades ago, HIV-positive individuals are now living into their 60s, 70s and beyond. About half of people living with HIV in the U.S. are age 50 or older, some are long term survivors and others are newly infected. While longer life expectancy is welcome news, growing older with HIV brings new challenges. Those providing health care and supportive services to PLWHA can take a number of steps to support older PLWHA to age successfully.
