Description

Questions for HIV providers to pose to state Medicaid programs and health insurance plans in order to ensure that the medical needs of people living with HIV/AIDS are being met.

Get Involved in Marketplace Decisionmaking (e.g., complexity of HIV/AIDS care, benefits of delivery of HIV care by experts, Ryan White systems of care models that are realizing better outcomes).

  • Access to HIV Providers (questions to health insurance plans around provider networks, definitions of HIV expertise, policies on primary care clinician referrals to HIV physicians).
  • Meaningful Benefits Coverage (e.g., what services are being offered, do they meet national HIV/AIDS care guidelines, what limits on services and visits exist).
  • Monitoring and Evaluating Access to HIV Quality Care (e.g., are plans required to follow national HIV/AIDS care guidelines, will plans be requried to report on HIV-related quality measures).
