Sharing Tools/Best Practices

The constant mantra at every Ryan White meeting is as follows: Share Your Ideas. Tons of insights are being passed along via workshop slides and talking points, poster sessions, and one-on-one networking. The trick is to turn this great thinking into tools and best practices that others can use in their own programs. Below are ways attendees can make that happen--during and after the meeting.

Sharing Via Social Media

New media has taken on a bigger role at this year's conference.  A Web and Social Media Institute shared insights like establishing a social media plan, how to use Facebook and Twitter (see the Social Media Toolkit), and Tips for Writing Online.

A good number of attendees are sharing insights via their Twitter accounts, including the TARGET Center, via our ryanwhitecare Twitter account. (On Twitter? Follow us.) As of 9:30 Tuesday Wednesday morning, there were over 40 tweets using the hashtag #ryanwhite2012. Below are highlights from the Institute and various Tweeters.

  • Tweets from ecamhi on 11/28: "Learn about New York's Medicaid HIV Special Needs Plans," used since 2003 to provide health care to Medicaid patients living with HIV/AIDS in New York City. Also: "My favorite presentation Tue: Meg Hargreaves' Potential Impact of ACA on RW."  (In non-Twitter language, that's session B-35: Assessing the Potential Impact of the Affordable Care Act on the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program: Challenges, Opportunities, and Recommendations for Action.)
  • Tweet from LI_HIV_PCouncil on 11/27: "Looking forward to this next session 'NYC's web based Training and Certification for Planning Council Members and Staff." (That's workshop C-10.  The TARGET Center will see about adding this online training to the collection of Planning resources, like the 1996 Planning Council video You Make the Difference.
  • Tweet from ImpactMC1 on 11/27: "If you want to play the #HIV oral health Jeopardy game from ECHO that we just played at a #ryanwhite2012 session...." (NOTE: The jeopardy training technique is also contained within the Building Blocks to Peer Success training resources, also developed by Boston University.)
  • From infieldhealth on 11/28: "Increasing #HIV patient #adherence thru #mobile phones. See our poster at P-18."  (Sounds like a good addition to the TARGET Center's Adherence page.)
