Instructions to the Beta ADR XML Upload Test Site

February 2013
Data and Reporting TA Team

Introduction

As part of the ADAP Data Report (ADR), ADAPs are required to submit a client-level data file with one record for each client who was enrolled in the ADAP during the reporting period. The ADR client-level data file must be in an XML (eXtensible Mark-up Language) format and follow the published schema. The schema for this XML file is found at: http://www.careacttarget.org/library/adap-data-report-client-data-dictionary.

The ADR XML Upload Test Site is a website that allows you to test your ADR client-level data file to ensure that it conforms to the XML schema. Please do not confuse the ADR XML Upload Test Site with the ADR Web System. If you test a file in the XML Test Upload Site, this does not fulfill the requirement of uploading the file to the ADR Web System. Note that the site does not store your data or require you to register.

What is XML?

XML is a standard, simple, and widely adopted method of formatting text and data so that it can be exchanged across different computer platforms, languages, and applications.

What Does the Site Test?

The site helps you ensure your XML file conforms to the ADR in format and content (i.e., correct data elements and allowable values). It does NOT allow you to check for missing data or data quality issues that will lead to alerts within the ADR Web System.

How Do I Use the Site?

The ADR XML Upload Test Site is available at https://perf-app-tst1.hrsa.gov/hab/AdrXMLUpload.

  1. Click on the Browse button to locate your client-level data XML file on your computer.
  2. Highlight the file under the Choose File popup window and click Open.
  3. Click the Upload File button. If you upload a file that conforms to the schema, you will receive a message stating, “Successfully uploaded XX clients.” The “XX” will list the number of clients included in the uploaded XML. If you upload a file that does not conform to the schema, you will receive a message stating that the file does not conform to the schema and the specific reasons for this. You will receive the same messages if you upload the same file into the actual ADR Web System.
