HRSA/HAB is exploring ways to gather information that will provide a better understanding of how the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program provides essential services to uninsured and underinsured clients and how the program’s role may be changing within the context of the ACA.

The first component is a survey called "Understanding and Monitoring Funding Streams in Ryan White Clinics," which was sent to a sampling of Ryan White Part C and D grantees to identify what types of core medical and support services are currently not fully covered (or covered at all) by Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance. The survey also captures information on how grantees track changes in insurance coverage and the cost of care.  The survey was completed in June 2014 and data are being analyzed.

This initiative also developed a Ryan White Services Tracker, a tool that supports grantees in examining data on how their HIV/AIDS services are funded. The Tracker will accept import files from CAREWare and ARIES, and an "open" version accept files in a pre-defined format. Contact Ellie Coombs or attend a webinar on June 27, 2014 at 2:00 ET to learn more.

This initiative is being carried out by HRSA/HAB partners Walter R. McDonald & Associates (WRMA) and Mission Analytics Group.
