Webinar Objectives:

After this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the role of PrEP as part of comprehensive HIV prevention services for heterosexually active adults at very high risk of HIV infection 
  • Especially uninfected persons whose regular sexual partners are known to have HIV infection. 
  • Identify populations in which PrEP can be used (our focus is on women and HIV serodiscordant heterosexual couples).
  • Describe clinical considerations, including:
    • Acute infection
    • Comprehensive counseling (adherence, resistance, HIV testing, signs/symptoms of HIV infection etc.)
    • Monitoring for and treating STIs
    • Monitoring HIV status, pregnancy status, side effects, adherence and risk behaviors
    • Engaging men in care
    • Discuss the state of the science related to the use of PrEP in HIV-discordant couples wishing to conceive and describe the current perinatal guidelines.
